Workplace Harassment Prevention

European Investment Bank

After public harassment allegations involving former employees, the European Investment Bank wanted to move from reacting to preventing. Sponsored by HR and Legal Counsel (Labor Rights), the program we built started with managers, expanded to employees, and two years later became a mandatory e-learning module.

Moving from response to prevention

The Bank already had solid legal procedures for handling harassment complaints, but wanted to invest in prevention as part of its Dignity at Work policy: a shared understanding of what harassment actually is, how it differs from ordinary workplace conflict, and practical skills for managers and employees to recognize and address it early.

How we supported the European Investment Bank

La durée

The initial program was a single 3.5-hour interactive workshop, which grew into a three-year partnership that included building a mandatory e-learning course.

Contenu

Managers worked through small-group interactive workshops of around 15 people, while employees attended larger conference-style sessions of up to around 80 participants, and the Board of Directors received a dedicated executive session. In total, the partnership delivered about 20 manager workshops, 8 employee workshops, and one Board session, reaching roughly 30% of the Bank's managers and several hundred employees.

Langues

Sessions were delivered in English and French.

Comment avons-nous procédé ?

Workshops were built around case studies, real-life scenarios, and facilitated discussion rather than lectures. Strong feedback from managers led the Bank to expand the program to employees, and two years later, to turn it into a mandatory e-learning module for long-term, scalable onboarding.

Benefits for the European Investment Bank

Managers and employees came away with a shared understanding of what constitutes harassment versus ordinary conflict, and practical tools to recognize, prevent, and respond to it. The program's expansion, from a single manager workshop to a mandatory e-learning course used bank-wide, reflects how well it landed.
