Caregiver supporting an elderly resident
Leadership conscient

Nationwide Elderly Care Provider

Managers across this nationwide elderly care provider in Luxembourg had mostly been promoted for clinical expertise rather than formal leadership training, and the emotional weight of the care sector was wearing on them. We built an eight-week Mindfulness at Work program, sponsored by HR and Learning & Development, that reached around 130 managers across roughly 10 cohorts.

Leadership without leadership training

Workforce shortages, high turnover, and constant operational pressure meant managers were stretched thin supporting frontline care teams while also caring for residents. Many had been promoted internally for technical expertise rather than people management, and the organization wanted to help them build emotional intelligence, communicate more effectively, and manage their own stress in a demanding care environment.

How we supported the organization

La durée

The program ran over eight weeks, with one live 90-minute session per week, delivered in person to approximately 10 manager cohorts.

Contenu

Sessions combined neuroscience, mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and behavioral science with practical exercises, guided reflection, and techniques managers could apply immediately in day-to-day management situations. Supporting materials and presentation slides were provided throughout, and the sponsoring HR and Learning & Development team helped roll the program out to roughly 130 managers.

Langues

Sessions were delivered in French and German.

Comment avons-nous procédé ?

The program placed a strong emphasis on practical application, helping managers become more aware of their own reactions, regulate stress, and communicate more effectively with their teams. Each cohort worked through the eight weeks together, building emotional intelligence skills suited to the pressures of a healthcare environment.

Benefits for the organization

Managers came away with a stronger understanding of how emotions, stress, and behavior shape their leadership, along with practical techniques for communication and emotional regulation. They were better equipped to support teams working in an emotionally demanding care environment, contributing to a more resilient, emotionally intelligent management culture across the organization.
